Welcome to Our First Introspection

In this introspection we are going to reflect on life itself.  In life we all have major events and changes that occur regularly.  Often we do not take the time to appreciate the everyday things we take for granted.  We celebrate new beginnings such as the birth of a baby, the marriage of a couple, or the start of a new season.  We reflect on the endings such as in death, divorce, or the transition of a season.  We stop to acknowledge pivotal life moments such as graduating from school, obtaining a new job, or moving to a different location.  But the things that pass us by on a day-by-day basis we fail to recognize.  Recently, I faced some life changing events.  I thought I would be relocating, I was preparing for leaving my job and everything I knew and I was doing all of this on a leap of faith for companionship.  Another life changing event occurred that changed all of those plans, health problems.
I began to reflect on the people and things I have so taken for granted.  The love and companionship of friends, family, co-workers and the respect I've gained from others.  Even simply having a job and my health.  While I have been dealing with my own introspective battles, another reminder came my way through acquaintances of mine.  (I personally hold the term friend on a very high pedestal, so, I will refer to myself as an acquaintance unless I actually meet my definition of friend.)  I read that someone I knew of had passed away.  I read some amazing introspection from the spouse of this person.  One of the things reflected upon was we never know what another person is dealing with and sometimes we do, but we do not pay attention to how what we say or do can affect another.  Another point was made about making the most of everyday.
It is important to be thankful for the support system we have and the things we have the make it possible to live just one more day.  We also need to make an attempt to be a good person everyday.  Pay attention to others and acknowledge them through their victories and struggles.  Pay attention to our wording and attempt to understand how what we say or do will be received by others.  We are all human beings and we will not be able to get it right 100% of the time, but a conscious effort is all it takes.  Given the world in which we live today, we all need a few more good people in our lives.  We will all define a good person in our own values, but we should strive to be one everyday!
